Activity 3

Activity 3

This is Activity #3. It is expected to take 15-25 minutes, depending on the Student's awareness of their career goal(s). The goal is to create a career goals statement. Students should ask a teacher for help and/or discuss their career goals and interests with a classmate/partner to help them brainstorm.

You will need:

  1. Computer with internet access

Do Now: Declare your Career Goals Statement

Step 1: Go to www.careervillage.org and log in.

Step 2: Once you are logged in, click on your avatar in the top right corner, select "My Profile" and then on your profile page look on the left side for "My Career Goals" to add your goal.

Step 3: Post your Career Goal Statement. If you have more than one, simply add them to the same text box.

  • Example Career Goal Statement: "After finishing my education I plan to become a product planner at Levi's in San Francisco."
  • It's ok to have multiple goals. List them all in your statement.
  • If you do not know what you want to do, that's ok too! Just say what you do know (if anything) about what kinds of career goals you have been considering. Your Career Goal Statement is for your benefit, so just be true to yourself. You'll work on it over time to improve it.

Step 4: Add to your Reflection Log for Activity 3 and send your instructor your reflection (usually a short written note of 1-5 sentences in the method instructed by your teacher) answering the question "How has setting your career goal made you think differently?" Use whichever method the teacher has specified.

💡
Don't forget: Track your reflections to make preparing for your Project Status Reports and Final Project Presentation easier!
